Learning Modules

For: Volunteers

Lumieos includes a built-in training system that provides role-specific learning content for volunteers. This page explains what learning modules are, how to find and complete them, and when they are required.

What are learning modules?

A learning module is a structured training course that prepares you for a specific volunteer role. Each module can include:

  • Text content — Written instructions or background information
  • Video lessons — Embedded YouTube videos
  • Sub-module quizzes — Optional knowledge checks after individual sections
  • A certification test — A final assessment that you must pass to complete the module

Modules are created and maintained by your regional partner organization and are updated each season to reflect the current program year.

Accessing your training

Go to the Training tab on your Volunteer Dashboard to see your modules. The list updates based on your current role assignments.

Volunteers only need to complete the training required for their assigned role. If you have not been assigned to a role yet, you will see a message noting that no trainings are available for your current assignments. Check back after a coordinator assigns you to a role.

Understanding module status

Each module card shows a status badge:

StatusMeaning
RequiredThis module is required for your assigned role. You must complete it.
Pending Role AssignmentThis module may become required depending on your role. You can start it early if you like.
Not Required, Previously StartedYou started this module before, but it is not required for your current assignment.

Completing a module

Each module card shows your progress and provides buttons to start or continue training:

  1. View Training — Opens the training content (text, videos, and sub-modules). Work through each section in order.
  2. Start Certification — Once you have worked through the training content, take the certification test. You must achieve the required passing score to complete the module.

A progress bar on each card shows whether you have not started (0%), are in progress (50%), or have completed (100%) the module. When you pass the certification test, the card displays a green “Certification Complete” badge.

Prerequisites

Some modules require you to complete another module first. If a prerequisite is not met, the “View Training” and “Start Certification” buttons are disabled and the card shows a warning listing the prerequisite modules you need to finish first.

If all prerequisites are complete, a green “Prerequisites Complete” badge is shown.

Retaking the certification test

If you do not pass the certification test on your first attempt, you can retake it. There is no limit on retakes. Your completion record is updated as soon as you pass.

Required vs. optional modules

Only published modules associated with your assigned role(s) for the current season are shown as required. Modules in draft or archived status are not visible to volunteers.

If a module is listed as “Pending Role Assignment,” it means the module exists for a role that might be assigned to you, but has not been yet. You can complete it early if you want — your completion record will carry over when the role is assigned.

Training and role assignment

Coordinators can see your training completion status from the event management view. If a required module for your role is incomplete, this will be visible to them as they manage assignments.

Completing required training before event day ensures a smooth experience for you and the event staff.

Module list is empty?

If the Training tab shows “No trainings found for current role assignments,” it means one of the following:

  • You have not been assigned to a role yet for any of your registered events.
  • No published training modules exist for your assigned role in the current season.
  • All required modules have already been completed.

If you expect to see modules and the list is still empty, contact your regional coordinator to confirm your role assignment is set up correctly.
